We've Had an Attitude Adjustment

Written By: Kara & The BMC Team
Over the past few months, some of us gals at BMC have been focusing on acts of self-love, self-care, and self-acceptance through our Do You campaign, and boy, has it been rough! Doubt and fear comes naturally when we’re constantly being distracted by face-morphing Snapchat filters and equating “likes” to love, but with each passing moment, we have another opportunity to slay negativity and kick it in the freaking butt. The Do You attitude is all about knowing and practicing what’s best for your own mind, body, and heart, but that’s just it--keyword: practice!
With a little bit of patience and effort, we’re slowly learning to adjust our attitudes so that self-love comes easily. So, how do we express our Do You attitude?
Running a business and raising a family with three little ones doesn't leave me much time for myself.  I enjoy spending the little spare moments that I have experimenting with recipes. Food not only fills the stomachs, but fuel the souls.  My latest obsession: homemade yogurt.
My favorite way to treat myself is with a good book/comic, candles + video games. Throw in a glass of wine, and it's the perfect night in for me. It's nice to slow down a little and escape from the busyness of everyday life.
It feels good to take care of myself mentally.  About a month ago, I went with my sister-in-law to a Yoni Steam experience (you can look it up), and it was a beautiful, spiritual, and personal adventure allowing me to connect to my body.  I also got a nice, restful meditation of herbal and floral aromas that relaxed the heck out of me. I like to think of it as a spa day for the soul.
Saturday morning yoga followed by afternoon margaritas with the bestie! There's nothing quite like cleansing the soul and body, then messing it all up with tequila. It's a vicious cycle of chaos and calm, but I try to practice a carefree attitude. Live more and stress less!
For me, the best way to feel empowered and show myself some love is hitting the gym. Going to the gym is a time for me to improve my physical and mental health.

Keep On Doing You!

Whether it be spending hours on a new manicure or twerking your socks off for your cat--no matter what you do, do it for you and you alone! We want to give a HUGE thank you to all who participated in our Do You campaign and shared your personal expressions of self-love and kindness. Keep practicing your acts of self-love and continue to share with us how you Do You with #DoYouBMC on IG and Facebook.
